First glimpse of Micromax Canvas 5

In the year 2013, the country’s leading smartphone manufacturer Micromax launched the Canvas 4 handset. Since then there was a wait for the next member of the Canvas family. Finally, after a long wait, the company introduced its new flagship device Canvas 5 this week. This smartphone will be available for Rs 11,999. Space Gray and Tan Brown color variants of the handset will be available in physical retail stores.

At first glance we can say that compared to Canvas 4 micromax canvas 5 Equipped with powerful processor, more RAM, better display and bigger battery. However, no changes have been made in the sensors of the front and rear cameras.

The Canvas 5 is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) device that will run Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. It will come with a 5.2-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD display which is equipped with a 2.5D curved touch panel. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection is present on the screen.

The handset has 3 GB RAM with 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6753 processor. Mali-T720 MP2 GPU is present for graphics. The inbuilt storage of the handset is 16 GB which can be expanded with the help of microSD card (up to 32 GB).

The smartphone has a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. The photo processing technology in the handset has been improved and many new camera features have also been included.

Talking about connectivity, Micromax Canvas 5 is equipped with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, Bluetooth and 4G LTE features. Ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, magnetometer and proximity sensor are provided in the smartphone. Canvas 5 has a non-removable battery of 2900 mAh. According to the company, it will provide talk time of up to 14 hours and standby time of up to 514 hours.
