Forgot your password? Here’s how to view stored passwords on Chrome and Firefox

While working in the browser on our laptop or desktop, we often choose to store our passwords. These passwords stored in the browser are stored in encrypted form. Many times later we forget the passwords of our Facebook, Twitter or other work. But do you know how you can retrieve the passwords already stored in the browser even after the history is deleted?

Today we will tell you how to retrieve passwords stored on Google Chrome and Firefox browsers. Now in case you forget your password in the office, you will not need any IT engineer, instead you can find your password yourself. Apart from this, you can delete and import passwords that have been stored by mistake. You also need to be alert to keep your passwords safe.

Google Chrome
First let’s talk about Google Chrome. To retrieve your passwords stored in Google Chrome, first click on the menu in the right corner and open the tab. After that go to Settings. After going to Settings, click on Advanced Settings in blue letters at the bottom. After clicking on Advanced Settings, go to Passwords and Forms and click on Manage Passwords.

After clicking on Manage Password, a password list will open in front of you. This list will show all the URLs, usernames and passwords that you have ever chosen to store. The stored passwords will appear hidden i.e. in bullet form. To see your password, you will have to click on ‘Show’ in the password given in bullet form. As soon as you click on Show, you can see your desired password.

Apart from this, if you feel that you have stored the password by mistake and you want to delete it, you can delete your stored password and username by clicking on the blinking cross mark near ‘Bullet Password’. Apart from this, you will also get the option to import the password.

Mozilla Firefox browser
It is very easy to retrieve the password stored in Firefox. In the Firefox browser too, you will first have to go to the menu in the right corner and click on the option.


As soon as you click on the option, you will have options like General, Search, Content, Application, Privacy, Security, Sync and Advanced. You have to go to Security and click on Saved Login.

By clicking on this option of saved login, a list will open in front of you with the stored usernames and sites. In this list, you can also see the last updated and used time and date.

As soon as you click on Show Password given below, the browser will confirm once again whether you really want to show the password. As soon as you click on the option of ‘Yes’, you will also start seeing the password tab in the same list.

After viewing the passwords, if you want to hide them again, you can click on Hide Password. Along with this, you can select any one username and remove it. Or you can delete all the passwords at once by clicking on ‘Remove All’ given below. Passwords can be imported in Firefox as well, just like Chrome.
