Gaganyan Mission: India’s space mission is going to get new wings. ISRO Chief S Somnath said on Friday that the Gaganyan mission can be launched this year. According to reports, Somnath, who arrived at the Space Expo in Bangalore, said that the Gaganyan mission is ready for launch. We are trying to launch it by the end of this year. Not only this, the government has also approved the construction of the first unit of India’s space station while expanding the Gaganyan mission.

What is Gaganyan Mission

Mission Gaganyaan was approved in the year 2018. Its purpose is to send at least 3 Indian astronauts to low-earth orbit. The astronauts will stay in space for three days and then land at a fixed location in the sea. ISRO has planned a total of 3 missions. There is a plan to send a robot ‘Vyommitra’ in the first 2 missions. Astronauts will be included in the third mission.

ISRO has successfully launched the first test flight of this mission. The astronauts who will be sent into space include Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair, Angad Pratap and Ajit Krishnan and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla. Of these, Shubhanshu Shukla is undergoing training in America and will soon be a part of an American mission and fly to the International Space Station (ISS).

If India succeeds in Mission Gaganyaan, it will become the fourth country to send its astronauts into space after America, Russia and China. According to reports, the astronauts going on the mission will have many food options. Six different menus have been prepared. Light items like upma, poha, idli are expected to be included for breakfast. There will be an option of meat and veg biryani for lunch, while dinner may include chapatis, vegetables and meat with gravy items.
