Gmail and Chrome crashing problem fixed, Google releases update

Google has fixed a problem in Android System WebView. Due to this problem, Gmail, Google Chrome and other Google apps were crashing. According to a report, users started noticing the issue of apps crashing on Monday afternoon and after receiving complaints, Google advised users to use Gmail’s desktop client. The search giant acknowledged the issue on its Google Workspace status dashboard and began sharing information related to the issue on a regular basis. The company fixed the issue this afternoon (March 23).

Due to a problem in Android System WebView, some other Google apps including Gmail and Google Chrome started crashing. Android System WebView is a system component based on Chrome that helps Android apps to display web content. The Verge’s Report According to Google, the issue with apps crashing began on the afternoon of Monday, March 22, and began appearing on the Google Workspace status dashboard. Accordingthe company acknowledged the problem at 4:35 am on March 23.

The company acknowledged that users are experiencing problems in Gmail as well. Google wrote (translated) “We will update when this issue will be fixed by 5:35 AM 3/23/21.”

After this, users were advised to use Gmail on desktop until the problem was fixed. By 11:48 am, Google resolved the issue with Android System WebView and 89.0.4389.105 Update Version released. Along with this, an update was also released for Google Chrome.
