Google Maps Lands Tourists In Kerala Stream Car Sinks Passengers Rescued

A tourist group fell into a stream of water while following Google Maps in Kuruppanthara in the South district of Kerala. Actually, water was flowing on the road which was shown in Google Maps. The incident occurred on Friday night when a group of four people were going towards Alappuzha. There was also a woman among these four people.
Since it was raining heavily in Kerala, water was flowing on the road through which these people were travelling. It is natural for people new to the area to not be aware of this. Therefore, these people continued on their way following the maps. But gradually the car started getting hit by water and started sinking.
The lives of all four were at risk. Then the police patrolling nearby was informed about this. After that, with the help of police and local people, all four people were pulled out of the water. But during this time the car of these tourists got submerged in water. Report According to an official from Kaduthuruthy police station, efforts were being made to pull out the vehicle as well.
But this is not the first incident in Kerala. Two years ago, in October, two young doctors also fell into a river while following Google Maps. After the incident, Kerala Police has issued precautionary guidelines to use technology very judiciously during monsoon.
