Google Pixel 9 to Offer 2 Years Free Satellite SOS Service Like Apple Says Report

Google Pixel 9 series is scheduled to launch globally and in India on August 13. Previous reports had revealed that Google may bring Apple-like features like satellite SOS service with the upcoming flagship smartphone series. Now the new Android 15 beta update has reportedly revealed that the company may offer up to 2 years of free Pixel Satellite SOS for Pixel devices, similar to the free service period provided by Apple. Here we are telling you in detail about Google Pixel 9 series.

Free Pixel Satellite SOS Service

One Report Android Authority teamed up with tipster AssembleDebug to provide a teardown of the new Android 15 Beta 4 update that was released last year. Strings discovered in the update’s code have revealed that Google Pixel may include an emergency satellite connectivity feature called Satellite SOS. The feature reportedly includes a footer stating that when a user connects to an emergency service via satellite, their information, including name, email, phone number, location, emergency contact and device details, is shared with the emergency service and the satellite service provider. Is shared together.

Apart from this, the searched strings also suggest that Google may offer Pixel Satellite SOS for free for a period of two years. Another text included in the article reportedly states that Satellite SOS is included at no charge for two years. This period coincides with the two years of Emergency SOS via satellite service provided by Apple to users of iPhone 14 and later models. A separate finding suggests that Pixel devices could be updated to support Satellite SOS. The Google Pixel 9 series is expected to run on Android 15, so older Pixel models are likely to get updates that support emergency satellite-based communication.

Tipster Mishaal Rehman was the first to inform about the presence of this feature in March. An update to the Adaptive Connectivity Services app is believed to have introduced a Satellite SOS* settings page under the Security and Emergency tab. It includes information about how it works, customization options for sharing information with emergency service providers, and even a link to purchase Garmin Search & Rescue insurance.
