Government Blocks 83668 Whatsapp 3962 Skype Accounts in Digital Arrest Crime Action Against Cyber Fraud

In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Sanjay Kumar said that the Cyber Crime Coordination Center (i4C) has so far been 83,668 WhatsApp accounts and 3,962 Skype ID blocks, which were being used in crimes like digital arrest scam. In addition, more than 7.81 lakh SIM cards and 2.08 lakh IMEI numbers have been deactivated after the police reported.
The government, along with telecom companies, is developing a special system to stop and block the activity of calling Indian numbers by international scammers to stop such numbers.
So far, I4C has succeeded in stopping the fraud of more than Rs 4,386 crore in time. Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System, which was launched in 2021, has so far filed complaints of more than 13.36 lakh cyber fraud.
The government is also adopting many ways to raise awareness about cyber fraud. Now outgoing calls are being run unkipble collar tunes to protect against cyber fraud, so that people can be alerted to such scams. Apart from this, people are also being told about this through advertisements in newspapers, campaigns on social media and partnership with digital influencers.
