Hackers attack on Twitter, email addresses of 20 crore users leaked

Hackers are continuously attacking the microblogging site Twitter. This time hackers have stolen the email addresses of more than 20 crore Twitter users and posted them on a hacking forum. There has been no indication as to the identity or location of the hackers. This may have been the case before billionaire Elon Musk took over the company at the end of last year.

Giving this information on LinkedIn, Alon Gal, co-founder of Israeli cyber security monitoring firm Hudson Rock, said that this will increase the cases of hacking and phishing. He has called it one of the big leaks. Gal first posted about this hacking on social media on December 24. Twitter Has not commented on this report. It is not known whether Twitter has taken any action to investigate or resolve this matter. Reuters could not confirm whether the data posted on the hacking forum is genuine. Screenshots from this hacking forum have circulated online.

Regulators can take action on any major theft of data in Twitter. Twitter’s European headquarters is in Ireland. The Data Protection Commission in Ireland and the US Federal Trade Commission are monitoring Twitter for compliance with data protection rules. At the end of last month, there was a report that data of about 40 crore Twitter users was stolen and put for sale on the dark web. This is one of the big cases of data leaking in Twitter. The hacker has given a sample to prove that the data is genuine. This includes users’ name, email, number of followers, and in some cases, even phone number. This also includes user data of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

Last month, Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC) had announced an investigation into the leak of data of more than 54 million Twitter users. According to a media report, in the current case of data leak, the hacker has stolen the data of some high profile people as well as the data of the American Space Agency NASA and the World Health Organization (WHO) on Twitter.
