Honda Two-wheeler Sales Increase 45 Percent in April

April sales of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), one of the largest two-wheeler companies, have increased by 45 percent on a year-on-year basis. Last month the company’s sales stood at 5,41,946 units. This includes sales of 4,81,046 units in the country and export of 60,900 units.

Last month the company also crossed sales of 80 lakh units in Eastern India. This includes the areas of West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and North-East. HMSI has also started a new engine assembly line in Manesar, Haryana. It can manufacture 600 engines per day ranging from 100 cc to 300 cc. The company’s sales had increased by 12 percent in the last financial year. HMSI has made record sales of 48,93,522 units.

Recently the company has also launched two new products. These include SP160 motorcycle and Dio 125. The SP160 is priced between Rs 1.18 lakh and Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom). Dio 125 is the company’s second 125 cc scooter after Activa. Its price ranges from Rs 83,400 to Rs 92,300. HMSI had launched SP125 Sports Edition motorcycle. Its price is Rs 90,567 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be available at Honda Red Wing dealerships across the country. This motorcycle has been given a better tank design and new graphics than before. It will be available in Decent Blue Metallic and Heavy Gray Metallic colors. It has bright LED headlamp, fully digital instrument console. Mileage related information will also be available along with gear position indicator in its instrument console.

The SP125 Sports Edition is powered by a 123.94 cc, single cylinder BS 6, OBD2 compliant PGM-FI engine, which generates 8 kW of power and 10.9 Nm of torque. The company is giving a special 10-year warranty with it, which includes three years standard warranty and seven years optional warranty. International automobile company Honda plans to invest $3.4 billion in manufacturing electric motorcycles and mopeds. Honda, one of the world’s largest two-wheeler makers, plans to launch 30 new electric two-wheelers by the end of this decade. The company also aims to reduce the cost of electric motorcycles. The company had said that it will invest about $ 700 million by 2025 for the electrification of its motorcycles.
