Honor 9i First Impressions, what else is special in Honor 9i with four cameras…

Honor 9i is the latest device in the sub Rs 20,000 category in the Indian market. The phone has many features like four cameras and bezel less full vision display. The company is expanding rapidly in India and is offering handsets in every price segment. Honor 8 Pro is a smartphone falling in the less than Rs 30,000 category. With the addition of Honor 9i to its portfolio, Huawei seeks to foray into a category dominated by brands like Vivo, Oppo and Samsung. Know how we felt about Honor 9i while using it for the first time.

Honor has given many firsts with 9i. First of all, let us tell you that this is the company’s first smartphone with 18:9 fullview display. Apart from this, this is the first smartphone to be launched in India with two rear and two front cameras. But do these features really work? We got a chance to spend some time with the Honor 9i at the company’s launch event. Know here how this device looked at first glance.

The device looks quite premium. Apart from this, it feels strong and remains stable. The phone has a 13-megapixel primary and 2-megapixel secondary camera on the front. Whereas a 16 megapixel sensor and 2 megapixel depth sensor is provided on the rear. The camera given on the rear is embossed and is in the middle. There appears to be a metal ring around the sensor but we’re excited to see what it’s like to hold during normal use.

The phone has a 5.9 inch display and the bezels are thin. Keeping up with the current market trend, Honor has chosen 18:9 aspect ratio for the display. For this reason, the screen resolution has become FullHD+ (1080×2160 pixels). At the bottom of the phone, you will find an old-style micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack and loudspeaker. Honor 9i has the company’s Kirin 659 processor which is octa-core. Apart from this, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage is also provided. The similarly priced Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus also come in the same RAM and storage variants. The storage of this phone with hybrid-dual SIM slot can be increased at the cost of not inserting a second SIM card.

Honor has provided a 3340 mAh battery in the phone, which is fine considering its thickness. We did not feel any heat in the short time we spent with the Honor 9i. However, we will give any decision about battery life only after our detailed review.

Once you power on, you will get EMUI 5.1 skin on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. While the basic functionality of the OS remains the same, Honor has added some new features.

The phone also has multiple gestures and shortcuts for various tasks. Additionally, the higher resolution means that most apps have to be stretched to take up the entire screen.

There is no confusion that the specialty of this smartphone is the cameras. With dual cameras on either side, Honor claims that the company has used hardware rather than software to achieve the Bokeh effect. Whereas most other manufacturers are using software. We will give our final verdict on this during our full review.

With a price tag of Rs 17,999, the phone seems to have good hardware. With an 18:9 display and four cameras, the Honor 9i is a good choice for buyers looking for new features. Stay connected with us for the full review of the phone.
