How to activate Dark Mode in Google Search

The appearance settings for Google Search were announced through a post on Google Support in September 2021. The new settings have three options – Device default, Dark or Light. The post also mentions that the new dark mode settings have started rolling out to users on September 9 and will gradually be available to all users in the coming weeks.

The announcement states that the new appearance settings will apply to the Google homepage, search results page, search settings, other linked webpages. The device default setting automatically matches the device’s colour scheme. The dark setting shows light text on a dark background and the light setting is the opposite. Gadgets 360 was also able to change the appearance settings on Google Search. Dark mode on Google Search can be activated by following these steps.
- By typing google.com in your web browser Google Search Open.
- On the Google Search homepage, in the lower right corner, Settings Click on.
- after this Appearance Click on ; if it is not visible under Settings then click on Search Settings and then click on Appearance from the left panel of the page that opens.
- Device default, Dark Or Light Choose any of these and click on the Save Click on it.
Google first started testing the dark mode feature for Google Search on desktop in December 2020. Google Search on mobile has had a dark mode since May 2020.
