Paytm is usually used for mobile recharge, bill payments or offline payments. But now it has emerged as the first third-party app to enable COVID-19 vaccine booking through the CoWIN portal. It can be used to find and book slots for both Covaxin and Covishield vaccines. You can also choose whether you want to book a vaccine for a person in the 18-44 age group or above.

Paytm offers Vaccine Finder on its app for both Android and iOS devices with the option to book a COVID-19 vaccine. The company has also leveraged the government’s recent update in CoWIN guidelines to offer a new experience.

How to book COVID-19 vaccine via Paytm app

Below are the steps on how you can book a COVID-19 vaccine through Paytm. But before getting started, it is advisable to have the latest version of the Paytm app on your device. To book a vaccine slot, you need to register on the CoWIN portal beforehand.

1. Open the Paytm app and scroll down on the homescreen to find Vaccine Finder.
2. Enter your pin code on the Vaccine Slot Finder screen. You can also search for the nearest vaccination center by switching to the search option by district.
3. Select the age group you want to book the vaccine for.
4. Choose whether you want the first dose or the second.
5. Tap on the Book now button. Paytm will then ask you to enter your mobile number that you want to use on CoWIN.
6. You will now receive a one-time password (OTP) which you will need to enter on the screen to proceed with your booking.
7. Once you enter the OTP, the app will now show you the centres and slots available at your chosen location. Based on availability, you can switch between free and paid slots and filter slots for Covishield.
8. If there is no slot available in your location then the app gives you the option of a Notify me button so that you can receive a notification whenever a new slot becomes available in your area.
9. You will now see the available slots from where you can choose a suitable slot by tapping on Book Now.
10. Now you have to add a new beneficiary for vaccination by pressing Add New. The app will ask you to select the beneficiary’s photo ID, proof ID number, full name, year of birth and gender. Then you press Submit.

The app will now let you choose between the available timings at your selected vaccination centre. Select one from the list and then press Schedule Now. Paytm will provide you with an appointment slip once the booking process is complete. You will have to show that slip at the time of vaccination.
