How to cancel counter railway ticket on IRCTC

Online process for cancellation of counter ticket
1. First of all enter PNR number, train number. And then fill the captcha.
2. Select the check box to confirm, this is to agree to all the terms and procedures.
3. After submitting, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number given at the time of ticket booking. After receiving the OTP, enter the OTP and then click on submit.
4. After entering the OTP, PNR details will be displayed on the screen.
5. After verifying the information, click on ‘Cancel Ticket’ for full cancellation. After this, the refund amount will be displayed on the screen.
6. Now the customer will be sent an SMS with PNR and refund information. For example like this: “Your PNR xxxxxxxxxx has been cancelled. Collect refund amt xxxxx from journey commencing station or nearby satellite PRS locations. Ref. Terms & conditions”
7. For tickets cancelled 24 hours before train departure (including return passenger tickets): Refund can be obtained from any PRS counter of Indian Railways up to four hours before the train departure time by submitting the original PRS counter ticket, provided your ticket is confirmed. If you are travelling with RAC/Waitlist ticket, you can get refund by submitting the ticket up to thirty minutes before departure. Refund of PRS counter ticket is available only on submission of original ticket at the journey starting station or nearest satellite PRS location through IRCTC website or 139. Before cancelling your ticket, ensure whether refund collection facility is available at the station from where the journey is starting. The SMS sent by the railway for refund has to be shown at the counter.
8. Once the passenger confirms, the entire PNR will be cancelled and the PNR will be marked as cancelled. But it will not be marked as refundable in the system. The seat will be vacated. The passenger will also be informed about the refund amount on the website.
Terms and Conditions:
- Online counter ticket will be cancelled only if you have provided a valid mobile number at the time of booking.
- Online tickets can be cancelled only 4 hours before the ticket is confirmed and the train departs.
- In case of RAC/Waitlist ticket, online ticket can be cancelled only up to 30 minutes before the train departure.
- Passenger information (name, age, gender, booking status, current status) and trip details will be visible on the website.
- All Privilege/Duty Pass/PTO/Complimentary Pass tickets can be cancelled through the website.
