How to Check PAN Card Validity Status, check whether your PAN card is active or not.

The central government deactivated 11.44 lakh PAN cards on July 27 and several thousand fake PAN cards have also been identified. Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar informed Parliament that more than 11.44 lakh PAN cards have either been closed or deactivated. This has been done in cases where more than one PAN card was allotted to a person.

Gangwar said that till July 27, 1,566 fake PANs were identified. If you have more than one PAN card, you can check online to know which of your cards is valid. For this you will have to follow the procedure given below.

You can check the validity status of PAN card like this

1. To know the validity of PAN card, visit the Income Tax e-filing website. Here click on the Know Your PAN button visible on the left side of the screen.
2. On the next page, other important information like name, status and mobile number will be asked. Please give their details. The mobile number should be the same as given by you in the PAN card form. Because OTP will be sent to this number for user verification.
3. After giving all the details, click on the submit button. After this, on the next page, enter the OTP number which has come on your registered phone number.
4. If you have multiple PAN cards in your name, you will be asked some more questions, like father’s name.
5. After giving the requested information, you will be able to check the validity status of your PAN card. Apart from this, those PAN cards which are active will also be known.

Make it clear that to check the validity status of PAN card, the information given by you should be correct. This information should match with the information given by you in the PAN card application.
