How to enable and disable automatic app updates on Android

Now you are not so free in life that you will take special care of updating every time. That is why in Android you get a default option on Google Play with the help of which the app gets updated automatically only when there is a Wi-Fi network.

But sometimes it happens that you do not want to update the app. There can be many reasons for this. Unlike the Apple App Store, in the Play Store, the user has more freedom to decide on auto updates.

If you like auto updates, but want to stop certain apps from updating, here’s how. Option to turn off automatic updates for a specific app.

1. Open Google Play Store.
2. Touch the hamburger icon visible at the top left. After this, select My Apps or Games. After this, swipe up and select the app of your choice. If you want, you can also search for them by typing the name of the app through the search icon.
3. After reaching the app page, click on the three dots visible at the top right.
4. After this uncheck auto update.

That’s it. After this, that app will never update automatically. If you want to update the app, then you will have to go to the Play Store once again and give permission for the update. The rest of the apps will keep updating automatically.

How to turn off automatic updates for all apps on Android
1. Open the Google Play Store.
2. Click on the icon visible on the left. After this, swipe up and select Settings.
3. Now under General, tap on Auto update apps.
4. After this select the first option Do not auto-update apps.

After doing this, not a single app will update automatically. If you want, you can activate the auto update option by going to Google Play Store.

If you have an unlimited data plan, you can activate auto updates on cellular data as well.

How to activate auto update on Android
1. Open Google Play Store.
2. Tap on the icon shown at the top left. Swipe up and select Settings.
3. Under the General section, select Auto update apps.
4. If you want to update only on Wi-Fi, then choose the third option – Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only.
5. If you want updates at any time then choose the second option: Auto-update apps at any time.

Remember that in the second option, the update will also be downloaded in cellular data, which means it will affect your mobile data bill. Think again before choosing this option.
