The Income Tax Department has provided two numbers 567678 and 56161 to link Aadhaar and PAN card. For this you have to send SMS in the format given below. UIDPAN123456789012ABCDE12345. In this text, the first 12 digits is your Aadhaar number while the second one is your PAN card number.

If your name is spelt differently in both places, you will receive an Aadhaar OTP via SMS for verification. However, if other details such as date of birth or gender do not match, you will have to visit the National Securities Depository Limited website (for PAN) or the UIDAI portal (for Aadhaar) and make changes so that both the details match.

However, linking PAN and Aadhaar through SMS or internet is mandatory for all tax payers. But even those people whose income is not taxable will have to link both the cards. According to the government, this will help in tax reform in the country.
