India Authorises Apple Xiaomi Dell Lenovo and Others to Import Laptops Tablets With Some Terms Conditions All Details

Reuters quoted two government sources told The Government of India has given approval to a total of 110 companies to import laptops, tablets and PCs. The government has prepared a management system under which imports will be monitored. This new “Import Management System” has come into effect from Wednesday. Some of the big names of these companies are Dell, Xiaomi, IBM, ASUS, Lenovo, HP, Apple, Samsung and Acer.
India had withdrawn previous plans to impose a licensing regime following criticism from the industry and the US. Let us tell you that a few months ago the government had tightened the rules regarding import and almost banned it, but later prepared a management system and gave permission to the companies to import.
Companies will have to register the quantity and value of imports on a portal with valid authorization by September 2024.
The new import management system applies to personal computers, microcomputers, mainframe or large computer and data center machines. The idea behind the new system is to monitor shipments and establish trust in the supply chain while ensuring smooth supply to the market.
