This feature is being rolled out slowly to all users and will soon be available globally. This fast-forward feature of Instagram allows users to look at any reel at 2x speed. To access this option, users have to press and hold on the right or left edge of the video screen, making the video play in fast speed. The new feature has also started to rollout in India and by the time the news was written, some members of Gadgets 360 staff were able to access this feature.

Instagram has increased the maximum length of the reel to 3 minutes in the last few months, which now has to watch long videos. With the new fast-forward feature, they will get the facility to skip content according to their choice.

At the moment, this feature will only be available for reels videos and Instagram has not yet clarified whether it will come on other video formats such as stories and IGTV.
