International Smartphone Market Registers Growth, Apple and Samsung MainTains Top 2 Ranks, Vivo, Oppo

In the second quarter of the current year, the international shipments of smartphones have increased by one percent. Market Research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quartley Mobile Tracker Report According to, in the second quarter, the total shipments of all smartphone companies have been around 29.52 crore units. This is an increase of one percent in the same period of the previous year as compared to shipments of about 29.22 million units. South Korea’s smartphone maker Samsung has retained its first place in this market with shipments of about 5.8 million units. Samsung’s shipments have increased by 7.9 percent. Recently the company has launched a new series of foldable smartphones. In the last few years, the market of foldable smartphones has increased rapidly. Samsung has the highest stake in this segment. This report states that Samsung has benefited from the strong sales of Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 in the second quarter.

Shipments of American devices maker Apple’s iPhones increased by 1.5 percent in the second quarter. The company has shipped around 4.64 crore units. However, the company remains second in this market. China’s smartphone maker Vivo has gained 4.8 percent growth in the second quarter. Vivo has shipments of 2.71 crore smartphones. Vivo is the second place after Samsung in terms of growth on year-by-year basis in smartphones shipments. In the first quarter of the current year, it has increased from the fifth place to the fourth place in the second quarter.

The report states that the international market of smartphones has had an impact of increasing inflation in many countries, macro economic challenges related to trade. Demand has also weakened in large markets like China. Despite Apple’s iPhone’s fall in sales in China, a year-on-year basis, the company has succeeded in increasing sales with growth in double-design in emerging markets.
