Look and Design
Like other premium smartphones, Intex has given solid cold metal body in this smartphone. Although there is a plastic strip on the top and bottom. The rear panel is made of metallic unibody. Which means the battery is not removable. The look of the phone is fine.
The front part of the phone is scratch resistant so there is no risk of damaging the phone. There are power and volume buttons on the right side. However, the power button is designed in such a way that it works only with a single touch. Micro-USB port is provided at the bottom while 3.5 mm audio jack is provided at the top. There is a lack of fingerprint sensor in the phone. This feature is now available in many phones priced lower than Intex Aqua GenX, so many customers will be disappointed.
There is a SIM tray and a customizable ‘Q’ button on the right side of the phone. The phone supports dual SIM with 4G support in the first SIM and 3G support in the second. The phone has a hybrid SIM slot, which means you will have to choose between a second SIM or expandable storage. The ‘Q’ button can be customized in the same way as honor 7 In smartphone.
Intex Aqua GenX has a 5.5 inch Full HD IPS display. The density of the screen is 401 PPI. The screen is sharp and detailed as well as bright. The display of the phone can be easily seen even in sunlight. Due to the large screen size, one can enjoy media viewing and games on the phone.
Specifications and Software
Apart from the specifications, there is a lot special about Intex Aqua GenX that makes it different from other budget smartphones. The phone has an eight-core MediaTek MT6753 processor running at 1.3 GHz. RAM is 2 GB and internal storage is 16 GB. Storage can be expanded (up to 128 GB) with the help of microSD card. The battery is 2850 mAh. Only about 11 GB of internal storage is available for user use. The SIM slot will support TDD Band 40 and FDD Band 3 on 4G connectivity.
Along with the phone, you will get a 7.5 watt charger, headset with microphone, in-line remote, screen protector and a SIM ejector tool.
Intex Aqua GenX runs on Android 5.1 with a single layer custom skin on top. The user interface is well designed and easy to use. The lock screen, notification shade, and icon dock all look familiar and easy to operate. But the only thing that did not work well were the app icons and folders on the home screen.
With the help of many options in the Settings app, you can change things as per your choice.
camera
The camera of Intex Aqua GenX is 13 megapixels which can record full HD video. But the 5 megapixel front camera can record only 640×480 pixel resolution video. Single-tone LED flash is provided with the rear camera. Both cameras come with HDR image capture support.
The camera app seems a bit complicated and difficult at first glance but actually you can do everything easily with it. Videos can be recorded with a single tap and modes like slow-motion video, HDR can be activated quickly. Features like Live Photo, Motion Track, Panorama and Multi-Angle are also useful. By going to the options menu, you can manually set many things like photos and video resolution.
Talking about color and light, the camera is fantastic. The pictures are bright and realistic. The detail of the photos is fine and even without zooming the lack of sharpness is clearly visible in the photos.
The video is recorded well but lack of detail is visible in it too. Leaving aside the detailing, photos and videos can be recorded brilliantly with the phone.
performance
Intex Aqua GenX is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor and Mali T720 GPU for graphics. RAM is 2 GB. The phone runs smoothly without any issues and looks reliable.
The phone’s benchmark figures were decent and it generally performed well. But the phone faces problems while playing Dead Trigger 2 game and heavy encoded videos. While playing games, the phone heats up and also consumes a lot of battery. However, leaving aside these few things, we found the performance of Aqua GenX to be decent.
The phone supports 4G and starts working on the network quickly. There is no problem in Wi-Fi network except its weak antenna. The single speaker at the back produces loud and clear sound but its placement seems a bit inconvenient for watching movies and videos. Although the headphone sound is excellent, the sound of the headphones that come with it seems less.
Battery life is average and the phone lasted 9 hours and 16 minutes during our video loop test. During normal use, the battery of the smartphone lasts almost the whole day, but in our test the battery drained before a day.

Intex is not known for making expensive and beautiful smartphones, so this first premium smartphone of the Indian company gives a pleasant feeling. Intex Aqua GenX is a good smartphone with its price and features. Apart from the sharpness and details of the camera in the phone, there are some shortcomings like absence of fingerprint sensor.
Intex Aqua GenX is a great device but recently launched xiaomi redmi note 3 ,review) And leeco le 1s ,review) has completely left it behind. Among these smartphones, this premium smartphone of Intex offers better specifications at a lower price. Intex Aqua GenX can be purchased only when you are in dire need of a smartphone and are not able to buy other phones online. Intex’s large service network can also be a reason to buy this phone.
