Kia Sells More than 1.26 lakh Vehicles in First Half of Calendar Year, Sonet, Seltos Getting Strong Response

South Korean automobile company Kia has sold more than 1.26 lakh units in the country in the first half of the current year. This is an increase of six percent compared to the same period last year. Sonet’s share in the company’s sales is about 43 percent. Kia has said that the demand for its vehicles made in the country has increased in the international market.

The share of Seltos in the company’s sales is about 32 percent and that of Carens is about 25 percent. Last month, Kia exported 3,206 units. The company’s exports in the first half of this year are more than 12,000 units. Last month, Kia sold around 21,300 units. This is an increase of more than nine percent compared to the same month last year.

The company has achieved a big achievement in the country. Its exports have reached more than 2.5 lakh vehicles. Seltos has about 59 percent share in the company’s exports. Kia’s factory is in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The company’s sales in the country have increased rapidly in the last few years. The share of Sonet in Kia’s exports is 34 percent and that of Carens is seven percent. It also sells MPV Carnival and electric vehicle EV6. Recently, the company had claimed to sell more than 9.8 lakh units of passenger vehicles in the country. Seltos’s share in this is about 50 percent. The company’s Sonet has crossed the sales of four lakh units in the country. It was launched four years ago.

Earlier this year, the company had launched the updated Sonet. 63 percent of the customers who bought Sonet have chosen its sunroof variants. Apart from this, 63 percent have bought its petrol engine and about 37 percent have bought its 1.5 liter diesel engine variant. South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group includes Hyundai Motor and Kia. Hyundai and Kia aim to launch hybrid SUVs in 2026 or 2027. The plans of both these companies regarding EV are also intact.
