Moto Z was introduced in the month of June this year along with Moto Z Force at the Lenovo Tech World 2016 event. Moto Z Play, the most affordable handset of the series, was launched at IFA 2016. Both the Moto Z and Moto Z Play come with Moto Mods. Moto Mods is a modular system that allows users to add more functions to the smartphone. Both the Moto Z and Moto Z Play support Moto Mods. The Moto Mods introduced by the company work on both these devices. Lenovo has promised that these Moto Mods will work with the upcoming three generations of Moto Z.
There are four Moto Mods available for purchase in the market. These also include the Hasselblad True Zoom Mod launched with the Moto Z Play. Attaching the Moto Mod to the Moto Z Play is very easy and we liked this very much. You do not need to open the phone or change anything. The connectivity of the mod is also very good. We attached the JBL SoundBoost while music was already playing on the phone and the Z Play detected it immediately and within minutes the phone switched to it without us doing anything. Moto Z smartphone has 4 GB RAM. The phone comes in two variants of 32 GB or 64 GB inbuilt storage. Storage can be expanded via microSD card (up to 2 TB). Whereas Moto Z Play has 3 GB RAM. And there is 32 GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 2 TB.

Dual SIM Moto Z has a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, CCT flash and dual LED flash, aperture F/1.8 and laser autofocus. The rear camera has features like 1080 pixels HD video (60 frames per second), slow motion video and video HDR (1080 pixels and 4K). The front camera is 5 megapixels with front flash, aperture F/2.2 and a wide angle lens.
Moto Z Play has a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, laser autofocus, phase detection autofocus and aperture F/2.0. The camera has modes like Professional Mode, Quick Capture, 4X Digital Zoom, Burst Mode, Auto HDR and Panorama. 720 pixels (120 frames per second) from the rear camera. Can record video at 1080 pixels (30 frames per second) and 4K (30 frames per second). Apart from this, slow motion video can also be recorded. For selfie, there is a 5 megapixel front camera with aperture F/2.2, wide angle lens and flash. Auto night mode, beautification software and professional mode are also provided in the camera for great selfies.
Battery
Moto Z has a 2600 mAh battery. The company claims that the phone can be used simultaneously for 24 hours. According to the company, with just 15 minutes of charging, the phone can get power to use for 7 hours.
The Moto Z Play has a 3510 mAh battery which is slightly bigger than the Moto Z. Motorola claims that the phone can be used mixed for 45 hours. A turbo charger comes with the phone, with which the company claims that the battery can be charged in 15 minutes for 8 hours of use.
