Le Max 2 Review in Hindi, Review of Le Max 2

LeEco made a grand entry in India earlier this year with its first smartphone. After 6 months, the company is ready with its second generation handset. We are talking about Le 2 and Le Max 2. The company first introduced these smartphones in China, after a few days of waiting they have been made available in India also.

Both the devices have been a part of the headlines. The reason for this is not the specifications, but 3.5 mm headphone socket is not provided in these phones. In its place, LeEco’s CDLA feature is present.

Today we will review Le Max 2. This Le Max (review) is an upgraded variant of. Let us know how much better is the new variant than the old one? Does it have what it takes to challenge Xiaomi Mi 5 (Review) and OnePlus 3 (Review)?

Look and Design
The Le Max 2 looks similar to its predecessor from the front, but the rest of the body design is slightly different. It gives a feeling of being more polished. The rose gold version won’t be to everyone’s taste, but you can overcome this by using the cover. The phone gives the impression of having a bezel-less display, while it has a very thin black border. This appears when the screen is on.

The metal unibody of the phone slips in the hands. Because of this, there is difficulty in using the phone with one hand. This time LeEco has used a 5.7 inch quad HD display. Gorilla Glass protection is also present on it. We have no complaints about this. Color reproduction is good. The same can be said about the brightness level. There is not much problem in reading the handset screen in sunlight. Backlit capacitive buttons are present for navigation. You will also get an LED notification above the display.

There is a slot for two nano SIM cards on the left side while the volume and power buttons are on the right side. The storage of the phone cannot be increased, because it does not have a microSD card slot.

There is a bulge at the back of the phone due to the camera module of the handset. There is a high possibility of its edge being worn out. This problem also happened with our test unit. Fingerprint sensor is present below the camera. The good thing is that its sensor is bigger and better designed than that of Le Max. Qualcomm’s Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint technology has been used in Le Max 2. As the name suggests, this sensor uses ultrasonic sound technology to map your fingerprint. It takes a second, sometimes more, to unlock the phone. We talked to LeEco about this and the company said that the problem is with our test. It is not necessary that the company’s claims are true.

In the retail box you get a power adapter, a headphone adapter, a case, a SIM ejector tool, and a quick start guide. LeEco’s Type-C headset is sold separately. Users who purchased LE Max 2 in the first flash got it free. In terms of design and looks, Le Max 2 is much better than its older variants. Despite the small screen size, it feels bigger and its weight is 185 grams.

Specifications and Software
Like most of the flagship smartphones launched this year, the Le Max 2 uses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. It is available with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The cheap variant has 4 GB RAM and storage is 32 GB. Other features include Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, USB-OTG, and GPS. The phone does not support FM radio and NFC.

The biggest change in hardware is the USB Type-C audio standard that LeEco calls CDLA. The phone has EUI 5.6 based on Android Marshmallow. All the useful features of Android have been retained in Le Max 2 and the company has done the work of adding spice on top of it. This is a one layer interface. You can also customize the phone’s theme and wallpaper, but you don’t have many options by default.

The ‘Live’ onscreen button takes you to the LeLive service. You will be able to stream many popular TV channels here. All these services are part of the LeEco Supertainment eco system. To use it, you will have to sign up for a LeCloud account.

The interface is not very user friendly. The positions of most things have been changed. The shortcuts that used to launch apps have been moved to the app switcher screen. The notification shade is reserved entirely for notifications. Music player, infrared remote control, video player, Yahoo Weather, and sound recorder are pre-installed. Google’s apps are also available. The software needs further polishing.

performance
The Le Max 2 handles general-purpose tasks with ease. The credit for this goes to the CPU and lots of RAM. There were complaints of the handset overheating while playing games and recording videos with 4K resolution. On average, you will always have 3.5 GB RAM left, so there will never be a problem of the phone slowing down. The interface works fine but it doesn’t have the Nexus touch. The earpieces are loud enough for phone calls. There was no problem in using the phone in 4G network. Le Max 2 gave excellent results in benchmark tests.

Video player plays 4K videos smoothly. Apart from this, it also gives the option of pop-out window. LeEco has also provided the necessary video and audio codecs to support popular formats. The phone supports Dolby Atmos.

We liked the camera of Le Max and the new variant also did not disappoint us. The 21-megapixel sensor has optical image stabilization and PDAF features. The camera is able to focus quickly. Sometimes the shutter doesn’t work properly, which is why many photos came out a bit blurry. This sensor takes pictures of the landscape in detail. Chroma noise is limited in low light or unnatural lighting. 4K and full-HD videos are good. The quality of slow motion video is not that good.

Some changes are also possible in the camera app. It is very simple and easy to understand. But since there is no professional shooting mode, it does not give the feeling of being complete. The 8-megapixel front camera takes decent selfies but video recording is limited to 720p resolution.

battery life
The phone has a 3100 mAh battery. In our video loop test it lasted for 11 hours 53 minutes which would be considered good. But we believe that LeEco should have provided a higher capacity battery. In normal use the phone’s battery easily lasted a day. The phone also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology, which helps speed up the charging process.

our decision
The biggest complaint we had with the Le Max was its price, which the company has tried to address with the Le Max 2. The price of Le Max 2 starts at Rs 22,999. This price is for the variant with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. In this way, this handset is the cheapest smartphone available in the market equipped with Snapdragon 820 processor. In this respect the phone is almost impossible to beat. Remember that you will not be able to increase the storage of the phone.

The unit we reviewed is priced at Rs 29,999. In this you will get 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, which means its direct competition is with OnePlus 3. The display of the Le Max 2 has a higher resolution. Camera, battery life, CDLA audio, and streaming services go in the phone’s favor. However, there is a lot of room for improvement in the software. The phone is a bit heavy. It does not have NFC and to buy it one will have to participate in the flash sale. The fingerprint sensor also does not work very fast. However, the company says that this problem is only with our review unit.

We like what LeEco has done with the Le Max 2. But the price difference between its two variants is a bit stingy. If you are thinking of purchasing in this budget then you cannot ignore OnePlus 3. It is easily available and is also a great smartphone.
