Link Aadhaar number to mobile phone through IVR like this

The government has definitely postponed the last date for the process of linking SIM card with Aadhaar number, but the verification is still going on. The good news is that this process was made easier on Tuesday. Now all telecom subscribers can verify all their mobile numbers with Aadhaar by just calling one number, irrespective of the network. This news has brought a sigh of relief, because till now customers were forced to go to the offline stores of telecom companies to link their mobile number with Aadhaar number. Now customers can link mobile number with Aadhaar from their home using IVR service.

Link your mobile phone with Aadhaar like this
If you want to verify your phone number with Aadhaar then the process is very easy. You just need to have Aadhaar number. Whether you have a number from Airtel, Idea, Jio, Vodafone or any other operator, all you have to do is call the toll free number 14546 from your mobile number. After this, IVR instructions have to be followed for reverification.

1. When you call 14546, you will be asked about your citizenship. Are you Indian or NRI? You choose the right option.
2. After this you will approve linking your phone number to Aadhaar by pressing 1.
3. Now you have to enter your Aadhaar number and press 1 to confirm it.
4. After doing this, a one-time password will come on your mobile phone.
5. Now you have to enter your phone number.
6. Here you will give permission to the telecom operator to take details of your name, photo and date of birth from the UIDAI data base.
7. After this, the last four digits of your number will be told in the IVR, so that it can be confirmed that you have given the correct number.
8. If your number is correct, now you have to use the OTP received through SMS.
9. You have to press 1 to complete the Aadhaar-mobile number verification process.
10. If you have any other number then you can link it also by pressing 2. After this the instructions of the IVR system will have to be followed. During this time, keep your other mobile phone nearby, because OTP will come on that number also.

The OTP sent during the process of linking Aadhaar and mobile number is valid for 30 minutes. This means that even if the call gets dropped due to some reason, you can call again and use that OTP during the linking process. It is being said in the IVR system that the last date for linking the mobile number with Aadhaar is 6th February. At the same time, subscribers of the corporate plan do not need to link their number with Aadhaar.

Till now Airtel, Idea and Vodafone have started this IVR service. Whereas, when we called from Jio number, the IVR tried to connect us to the customer service center officer. But every time the call stopped automatically.

At the end of November, telecom companies had talked about launching a website to link Aadhaar and mobile number online. However, no such website has come yet. Going by the picture used in a tweet by Digital India’s Twitter account, it seems that users will be able to link their mobile number to Aadhaar through the mAadhaar app. This app is currently available only on Android platform.
