List of Countries Where Bharat UPI Supported Indian Can Make Digital Payments

There has been a tremendous increase in the volume of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) payments in India in the last few years. This method of digital payment has impressed not only India but many other countries of the world. Recently UPI service was launched in Sri Lanka and Mauritius. UPI was launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2016 and has gained rapid momentum since then. It had made a new record in November last year. Data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) had revealed that in November 2023, UPI transactions set a new record of Rs 17.4 lakh crore. Also crossed the number of 11 billion volumes. If compared with the month of November 2022, UPI transactions had increased by 54 percent, while its value had seen an increase of 46%.

In the last few months, the scope of digital rupee has also increased in the country. Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) or e-Rupee has been created through distributed ledger technology as a digital alternative to cash. The trial of e-rupee was started by RBI. However, after this, by October last year, these transactions had reached about 25,000 per day. Its use case was also expanded and it was linked to the widely used Unified Payment Interface (UPI).
