‘Made in India’ Smartphone Shipments Increase 6 Percent, Samsung Mantains First Rank

Last year, ‘Made in India’ smartphones have a growth of six percent on a year-on-year basis. South Korea’s Samsung has retained its first place in this market. This is followed by Vivo of China. American devices maker Apple and Samsung have a closely 94 percent stake in the total exports of smartphones from the country. Both these companies have benefited from the Central Government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

Market Research firm Counterpoint Report According to, the export of Samsung’s ‘Made in India’ smartphones has increased by about 13 percent. Samsung holds about 20 percent of the country’s smartphone market. Vivo has finished second with about 14 percent stake. It has helped by increasing offline sales and improving distribution network. China’s smartphone maker Oppo’s shipments have decreased by about 34 percent. It has fallen to fourth place. Dixon has become the biggest manufacturer of smartphones in the country. It has recorded an increase of about 39 percent on a year-on-year basis.

Tata Group’s Tata Electronics has been the fastest growing manufacturer of smartphones last year with an increase of about 107 percent on a year-on-year basis. This report states that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 have been contributed to the volume of Tata Electronics. Along with this, the company has also strengthened its position in the International Supply Chain of Electronics.

DBG Technology, which manufacturing smartphones for Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and Realme in the country, has registered a growth in double-design. In the current year, manufacturing of smartphones in the country is expected to increase in double-design. Apple’s stake in manufacturing smartphones is likely to increase rapidly. Recently, Apple’s contract manufacturer FoxConn has been given an incentive of about Rs 6,970 crore by the Government of Karnataka. Foxconn has a major stake in the manufacturing of iPhone in the country. It has manufacturing plants in India as well as China. Foxconn will soon launch an iPhone assembling plant in Karnataka. This manufacturing plant may have an annual assembling of about two crore smartphones.
