Maruti Suzuki Registers Marginal Increase in Sales, Utility Vehicles Getting Strong Response
Last month, Maruti Suzuki sold 9,395 units of Alto and S-Presso. In the same month last year, these sales were more than 14,000 units. Sales of the company’s models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR also declined marginally to 64,049 units. Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicles have received good response from customers in June. Last month, the company sold 52,373 units of Ertiga, XL6, Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny and Invicto in this segment. In the same month last year, these sales were 43,404 units.
Maruti Suzuki’s Swift sales have crossed 30 lakh units. The updated model of Swift was introduced earlier this year. Along with the design changes in the new Swift, the engine has also been upgraded. The company launched Swift in 2005. It was successful from the very beginning. It has also overtaken the total sales of 26.6 lakh units of the company’s first model Maruti 800. Swift achieved sales of 10 lakh units in November 2013. After this, in November 2018 it reached sales of 20 lakh units. Its next 10 lakh units have been sold in 6.5 years.
Its compact crossover Fronx has also received good response from customers. It was launched in April last year. Its sales have exceeded 1.5 lakh units. It is based on the company’s widely sold Baleno. In the last financial year, 1,34,735 units of Fronx were sold. In April this year, the company had dispatched 14,286 units. With this, Fronx’s wholesales reached 1,49,021 units. Its average sales per day are around 475 units. In view of this, its sales are expected to cross 1.5 lakh units. Fronx crossed sales of one lakh units within 10 months of its launch.
