Maruti Suzuki Total Sales increase to 168,089 Units in April, Utility Vehicles Getting Strong Demand
Last month, Maruti Suzuki’s sales in the compact segment also declined to 56,953 units. In the same month last year, the company had sold 74,935 units. In this segment, the company has Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR. It has performed well in the utility vehicles segment. The company’s sales in this segment increased to 56,953 units. In the same month last year it was 36,754 units. Last month the company’s exports increased to 22,160 units. In the same period last year, Maruti Suzuki had exported 16,971 units.
The company’s manufacturing has crossed three crore units. Maruti Suzuki started manufacturing in the country in December 1983. It has manufacturing plants in Gurugram and Manesar in Haryana and Hansalpur in Gujarat. The company had manufactured 10 lakh units in 1994. It reached the manufacturing of one crore units in April 2005.
Maruti Suzuki has manufactured more than 2.68 crore units at its plants in Haryana and more than 32 lakh units in Gujarat. Maruti 800 has played a major role in taking the company to this achievement. More than 29 lakh units have been sold. Its other successful models include Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift, Wagon R, Dzire, Omni, Baleno, Eeco, Brezza and Ertiga. The company plans to emphasize on environment-friendly fuel options like CNG. The company has the highest share in the CNG segment of passenger vehicles. The company has set a target of selling six lakh units of CNG vehicles in the current financial year. In the last financial year, for the first time, sales of vehicles running on CNG were more than five lakh units. Maruti Suzuki had sold more than 4.8 lakh units of this. The company’s share in this segment is about 73 percent.
