Massive Sunspot Spotted Could Release X Class Solar Flares Geomagnetic Storm

There is a period of movements in the Sun, whose direct effect is visible on the Earth from time to time. Last month ended with Earth being hit by a massive solar flare from the Sun and now, it looks like we may soon be hit by another massive solar flare. A sunspot has been discovered that has the potential to release dangerous solar flares.

Spaceweather.com’s Report According to , forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have revealed that a sunspot named AR3315 has been spotted, which can radiate dangerous solar energy. For those who do not know, let us tell you that a sunspot is a dark area present in the Sun, which is visible on the Sun due to its magnetism. Sunspots can last from a few hours to a few months. Not all sunspots cause solar flares, but when they do, the effects can be felt all the way to Earth.

The report states that AR3315 sunspot is dangerous, as it currently has an unstable ‘beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic field. Due to the unstable nature of this sunspot, there is a possibility of releasing not only M-class solar flares, but also X-class flares. Space agencies measure solar flares by class, and X-class flares are considered the most dangerous. Solar flares of this class not only affect devices and equipment but also increase the risk of blackouts.

According to the report, the AR3315 sunspot has a 55% chance of emitting M-class flares and a 10% chance of X-class flares hitting Earth. It has also been reported that this sunspot also has the potential to trigger geomagnetic disturbances such as geomagnetic storms. Because it is facing directly towards our planet.

Let us tell you that every 11 years a new solar cycle begins. During this period the Sun becomes very active. Explosions can be seen in it. During this period, coronal mass ejections and solar flares are emitted from the Sun. If their direction is towards the Earth, then geomagnetic storms occur on our planet, which affects the satellites and the power grid present on the Earth.
