MG Comet vs Tata Tiago Most Affordable Electric Cars in India Price Range Specifications Comparison

MG recently launched the Comet EV, which is one of the most affordable electric cars in the country. It will compete directly with the other two affordable electric cars Tata Tiago EV in the country. Both the electric cars are compact, out of which you will get slightly more space in the Tata Tiago electric car. Both the EVs are also quite different from each other in terms of power and range. With the launch of the MG Comet EV, people interested in buying an electric car must have started wondering how different the new affordable EV is from the competition. Battery, Range and Charging Time

Starting with the new MG Comet EV, it has a small battery pack, which has a capacity of 17.3 kWh. The company claims that once fully charged, the electric car can be driven up to 230 km. At the same time, Tata Tiago EV comes with two different battery pack options, in which MIDC certified range is available from 250 to 315 kilometers.

Talking about charging, the MG Comet EV gets a 3.3 kW charger, which claims to fully charge the car in 7 hours. At the same time, Tata claims that both battery pack options of the Tiago EV take about 6.9 to 8.7 hours to charge 10-100%. However, the MG Comet EV does not have fast charging capability unlike the Tata Tiago EV.

Power

The Comet EV gets a rear-mounted single electric motor that generates a maximum power of 42 PS and a peak torque of 110 Nm. In contrast, the Tata Tiago EV has a front-mounted electric motor. The Tiago produces a maximum power of 75 PS and a peak torque output of 114 Nm. As per company claims, the long range version of the Tiago EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds. MG has not revealed this figure for the Comet EV.

Dimensions

Unlike the Tiago EV, the MG Comet EV is smaller and comes with a 2-door design. However, it is the tallest. On the other hand, the Tata Tiago EV is longer and wider and also gets a longer wheelbase. The Comet EV gets a smaller boot, the capacity of which is yet to be revealed. The Tiago EV has a boot space of 240 liters.

price

MG Comet EV is currently being sold at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The offer is valid only for the first 5,000 customers. On the other hand, the price of Tata Tiago EV currently starts at Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
