Moto G5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Lenovo’s Moto brand launched its Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones at MWC 2017 on Sunday. The Moto G5 smartphone runs on Snapdragon 430 processor while the Moto G5 Plus runs on Snapdragon 625 processor. We decided to compare the Moto G5 Plus with the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 which runs on the same processor.

One reason for comparing Moto G5 Plus and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is that they have the same Snapdragon 625 processor. There are also many major differences between these two smartphones which will become apparent during our comparison process.

Moto G5 Plus vs Redmi Note 4: Specifications compared
Anyway, let’s start with the similar specifications. Both Moto G5 Plus and Redmi Note 4 phones have full HD display. Although, the size of both is different, both the smartphones come with dual SIM support. The storage of both can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. Apart from the base variant of both phones with 2 GB RAM / 32 GB inbuilt storage, 3 GB RAM / 32 GB and 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage variants also come.

Talking about the differences, Moto G5 Plus runs on Android 7.0 Nougat while Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. Moto G5 Plus has a smaller 5.2-inch display while the Redmi phone has a 5.5-inch display.

Moto G5 Plus has a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual autofocus, 4K video recording, aperture F/1.7 and dual LED flash. Whereas Redmi Note 4 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, Full HD video recording, aperture F/2.0 and dual-LED flash. Both phones have a 5 megapixel front camera.

The biggest difference between the two phones is in the battery segment. Moto G5 Plus has a small battery of 3000 mAh, while Redmi Note 4 has a 4100 mAh battery. And this also makes a difference to the weight of the phone. The weight of G5 Plus is 155 grams and the weight of Redmi Note 4 is 175 grams. The G5 Plus smartphone comes with 9.7 mm thickness and the Redmi Note 4 phone comes with 8.3 mm thickness.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes in 2 GB RAM / 32 GB inbuilt storage for Rs 9,999 in India. Whereas its 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage variants are priced at Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.

Talking about Moto G5 Plus, currently we know the prices of two variants only for European and American markets. The price of 2 GB RAM / 32 GB storage variant is 229 Euro (approximately Rs 15,300) while the price of 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage variant is 279 Euro (approximately Rs 19,700). The price information of 4 GB RAM / 64 GB variant is not available yet.
