NASA, China Rovers Find Signs Of Rivers, Sand Dunes on Mars
In Science Advances published The findings state that Perseverance has discovered the largest river yet on Mars. It was more than 66 feet deep in some places. Jani Radebaugh, a researcher at Brigham Young University in Utah in the US, said that these findings indicate the possibility of getting important information about the surfaces of other planets as well.
China’s Zhurong rover landed on Mars about two years ago. It has discovered traces of water on the surface of Mars. Indications of sand dunes have also been found near this rover. Quoting Ralph Milliken, a member of NASA’s Mars Curiosity Mission and a scientist at Brown University, National Geographic has reported that the dust on Mars contains large amounts of minerals and these minerals can draw water particles from the air. If such material covers railway tracks, seasonal changes in humidity may cause the dust to draw water particles and release it without it becoming liquid again.
For the last few years, NASA has given some important information about Mars. Perseverance Rover recently took 152 pictures of Belwa Crater. NASA has combined these pictures and released them as a video. According to NASA, there are a large number of craters on Mars and these may have been formed by the collision of objects. Belwa crater is also one of these pits. These photos may make it easier for the NASA team to understand the Jezero Crater area. Scientists believe that the large boulders present in this area may be caused by the collision of meteorites.
