NASA OCO 2 Mission Records Carbon Dioxide Emissions by Countries see tha map

Carbon dioxide emissions become a cause of debate among countries around the world. Many countries claim and promise that they are working towards reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, but no concrete initiative is visible. Now researchers have tracked the carbon dioxide emissions of more than 100 countries in the world with the help of NASA’s Earth-observing satellite. A map related to the study has been released. In this, those countries are shown in green color which absorbed more carbon dioxide emissions than they emitted. When countries shown in darker colors emit more carbon dioxide. America and China are at the forefront among these.

This Study Data from NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) spacecraft and ground observations were used. Researchers tracked carbon dioxide emissions from 2015 to 2020. It is worth noting that the objective of the OCO-2 mission was not to estimate the carbon emissions of all countries.

Karen St. Germain, director of NASA’s Earth Science Division, said this is an example of how NASA is developing efforts to measure carbon emissions. The authors associated with the study say that this study can be beneficial for many countries. Data from many countries which have not recorded their carbon emissions for the last several years has also been collected in this study.

The study revealed that carbon emissions have increased in areas of Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceania simply due to cutting of trees. This study shows how carbon emissions can be reduced. With the help of such forests, where there is less human interference, carbon emissions can be reduced. Researchers say that their pilot experiment can be further improved in the future, which will reveal how carbon emissions are changing in countries around the world.
