The Perseverance Rover of the American space agency NASA landed on the surface of Mars in the year 2021. Since then this rover has been roaming there collecting samples. The purpose of Perseverance is to collect rock samples from Mars and keep them safe. To bring those samples back to Earth, the American space agency NASA can launch a mission by the year 2030. This rover has also taken with itself many instruments, one of which is MOXIE (Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment). It has created history by producing oxygen in the atmosphere of Mars.

NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy said that the development of such technologies gives us the strength to live in places like the Moon and Mars for a long time and to pursue human missions.

NASA has reported that MOXIE produced oxygen in a better way. Despite the extreme conditions of Mars, it can produce oxygen there throughout the year. This instrument produces oxygen by separating each oxygen atom from each carbon dioxide atom present in the atmosphere of Mars.

NASA says that the oxygen collected in this way can serve as breathing air for astronauts in the future. It can also be used to produce rocket propellant. If this happens, future missions to Mars may become more practical. There will be a need to carry less fuel from Earth, most of the fuel will be available on Mars.
