NASA Perseverance rover clicks solar eclipse on mars when Phobos passed

Mars eclipse: Apart from the Earth, scientists have their eyes on any planet the most, and that is Mars. Last week, a picture came from Mars, which is not usually seen there. American space agency NASA’s Perseverance rover observed the Red Planet’s moon ‘Phobos’ passing in front of the Sun. capture Did it. That means it was the situation of solar eclipse on Mars. In pictures taken on February 8, the potato-shaped Phobos can be seen passing in front of the Sun. The picture was taken from the Jezero Crater area on Mars.

The special thing is that NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory i.e. JPL obtained about 68 images of solar eclipse on Mars. These pictures were taken with the help of Mastcam-Z camera installed on Perseverance. This camera is used to obtain landscape images of Mars.

According to the report of Space.com, Phobos was discovered in the year 1877 by American astronomer Asaph Hall. It is an asteroid-sized moon, which orbits Mars a few thousand kilometers above the surface. It is said that it keeps falling apart on Mars itself and one day it will break completely due to the gravity of the red planet.

However, Mars does not have a single moon. But how they were formed, scientists have not been able to know till date. They do not think that these moons would have come from the asteroid belt. No spacecraft has yet reached Phobos. Although some have definitely flown near it. Japanese space agency Jaxa is preparing to send a mission there by the year 2026.

Talking about other major news related to Mars, recently Perseverance’s companion and NASA’s Mars helicopter crashed after hitting the surface of Mars and will never be able to function again.
