NASA Shares Stunning Ultraviolet Images Of Mars Captured Maven Spacecraft

NASA is engaged in intensive research on a planet in the solar system. This planet is our Earth’s neighbor Mars. This planet is also called the red planet. But this time NASA has shared such a colorful picture of this planet which is shocking. In this picture, this planet looks so beautiful with shades of blue and green that the eyes cannot believe it. These pictures were taken by NASA’s MAVEN spacecraft.

Space agency NASA’s Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) mission is running on Mars. Spacecraft has taken some amazing pictures of Mars. These pictures were taken at different points. Since Mars is continuously revolving around the Sun, its ultraviolet image also emerges in different colors as it reaches different points. These have been captured by MAVEN spacecraft in its camera. NASA has shared these pictures through social media platform Instagram. See the very beautiful form of Mars-

Scientists have stated that these ultraviolet photographs have their own importance. He says that more depth can be known about the red planet Mars through these photographs. Because looking at the atmosphere of Mars in ultraviolet wavelengths can give a lot of new information about it. NASA has said through a release that the Imaging Ultraviolet Spectrograph instrument installed in MAVEN has captured these pictures. This picture is very special because there is a difference of one year between the two.

Since Mars is revolving around the Sun, the first picture was taken in 2022 while the second picture was taken when it had reached the other end of its orbit. The Imaging Ultraviolet Spectrograph instrument aboard MAVEN is said to measure wavelengths between 110 and 340 nanometers. And so that they can be seen by the human eye, they are rendered at different brightness levels in three ultraviolet wavelength ranges which include red, green and blue.

Out of the three colors mentioned, its ozone layer appears in purple color, its clouds appear in white or blue color, while its surface appears slightly dark or green. The first photo is of the Southern Hemisphere summer in 2022. This season comes as Mars gets closer to the sun. The second photo is of the Northern Hemisphere which was taken in January 2023. It was taken when Mars, rotating in its orbit, had reached its maximum distance from the Sun.

Scientists are saying about these photos that they can help them in knowing the atmosphere of Mars, its climate and the history of liquid water. MAVEN was launched in November 2013. It reached the orbit of Mars in September 2014.
