Netflix Free Plan With Ad Support May Launch Soon in Asian Europe Market All Details

Netflix may offer a free plan, which will allow users to watch its content absolutely free without any charges. However, there will reportedly be a condition. A report says that Netflix is thinking of bringing a plan in which users will be able to watch the content of the platform for free with advertisements. The video-streaming platform is said to be considering launching this free plan in select markets around the world. If this plan is introduced, it will be below even the current most affordable ad-supported plan (in certain areas only).

Netflix’s free ad-supported plan

Bloomberg’s Report According to , the video-streaming platform has discussed offering a free plan in Asian and European markets, where other free TV networks also have free plans. The plan is expected to offer free viewing of Netflix content, but with ads. Citing people familiar with the company’s planning, the report said the move is aimed at increasing users of the video-streaming platform.

If this turns out to be true, it wouldn’t be the first time Netflix will offer free video streaming. In 2021, a free plan for Android smartphones was introduced in Kenya. However, it was discontinued last year. The new ad-supported free plan may target users in Asia and Europe, but according to the latest report, Netflix has no plans to introduce this free category in the US. The company already offers an ad-supported plan in some regions, which is the most affordable way to watch Netflix and is priced at $6.99 (approximately Rs 600) per month.

According to Amy Reinhard, Netflix’s advertising president, this ad-based plan currently has 40 million active users globally, compared to 5 million users last year. Additionally, the company claims that 40 percent of all its sign-ups come from ad-supported plans, in the countries where it is available.

According to the report, apart from gaining more users, the new alleged free plan could also help in bringing in more advertisements for the video-streaming platform.
