Neuralink Brain Chip Project First Human Patient Able to Control Mouse Through Thinking All Details

Neuralink founder Elon Musk announced on Monday that the first human patient implanted with a Neuralink brain-chip has made a full recovery and can control a computer mouse using his brain. Musk himself shared this update with the public. A few months ago, Neuralink started taking applications from people in whose brain a ‘chip’ could be implanted. After shortlisting from thousands of applications, the company performed its first human brain implant. The company had already received approval from the FDA for this work.

He said the patient experienced a successful recovery without any side effects. The person is now able to move the computer mouse around the screen simply by thinking.

Musk said, “Progress is good, and the patient appears to have made a full recovery, with no side effects that we know of. The patient is able to move a mouse around the screen just by thinking.”

Neuralink received approval for human trial recruitment in September and last month achieved the milestone of implanting a brain-computer interface chip in its first human patient. The initial goal of the study is to enable individuals to control a computer cursor or keyboard using their thoughts.

The report further suggests that Elon Musk has ambitious plans for Neuralink, envisioning using its technology for quick and efficient surgical insertion to treat various conditions such as obesity, autism, depression, and schizophrenia.
