Nissan Magnite SUV Crosses Sales of 1 Lakh Units

The demand for SUVs has increased rapidly in the automobile market in the last few years. Nissan’s Magnite SUV has crossed one lakh units sold in India. It was launched about four years ago. Its starting price is Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Magnite, a compact SUV measuring less than four metres, competes with Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza, Kia’s Sonet and Hyundai’s Venue. Magnite SUV has a big contribution in maintaining Nissan’s business in the country. The company is selling only this model in the country. It is also exported abroad. Along with announcing the sale of more than one lakh units of Magnite SUV, the company has also informed about the launch of ‘Nissan One’ platform. With this web-based platform, existing and new customers of the company will get facilities like test drive, booking of vehicles, service etc.

Last year the company had launched Kuro Edition of Magnite. This is its completely black variant. No changes were made in its design. Magnite Kuro features black finish, black grille with KURO badge, skid plate, roof rails, headlamps. Its price is Rs 8.27 lakh (ex-showroom). It has a 1.0 liter petrol engine which generates power of 72 hp and torque of 96 Nm. There is also an option of 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It generates power of 100 hp and torque of 160 Nm.

This year has started well for automobile companies. Most of these companies have registered growth in January compared to the same period last year. Nearly four lakh cars were sold in January. Sales of Maruti Suzuki, one of the big car makers, increased by about 15.5 percent to 1,99,364 units. The company had sold 1,72,535 units in the same period last year. Tata Motors’ January sales have increased by 12 percent on year-on-year basis. The company sold 54,033 units including electric vehicles (EV) last month. Its sales in the same period last year were 48,289 units. There has also been an increase in the export of passenger vehicles of Tata Motors.
