Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro True Wireless Earphones Review: Best true wireless earphones under Rs 5,000!

When it comes to active noise cancellation in true wireless earbuds, it is no longer surprising to find this feature under Rs 5000. Brands have started pushing the boundaries in terms of performance and features. The recent launches of Realme and OnePlus have proved that functional ANC and good sound quality are now possible even in the budget segment of TWS. Oppo has made its bet in this area with the Enco Air 2 Pro.

Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro The Enco Air 2 Pro is priced at Rs 3,499 in India. The wearable was launched shortly after the Enco Air 2. Some of the major differences are the in-canal fit and active noise cancellation. Its current price makes it more affordable than the OnePlus Buds Z2. Is the Enco Air 2 Pro the best audio device with ANC in the true wireless segment? Find out in this review.

Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro comes with 12.4mm dynamic drivers, active noise cancellation

Oppo Enco Air 2 performed average for its price. I expected more from its Pro model. It sees many changes in terms of design, specifications and features. It has an in-canal fit and silicone ear tips. Its charging case is also bigger.

There are some similarities between the two models such as the design of the earpiece stem, the touch zone for playback controls, and the glossy finish on the plastic of the charging case and earpieces. Interestingly, the ‘L’ and ‘R’ markings are cutouts for the inner microphone openings. The wearable has an IP54 rating that offers protection against dust and water.

Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro comes in white and grey colours. I like the white version better as it looks somewhat similar to Apple AirPods Pro. The charging case has a transparent upper panel which looks quite unique. The charging case has a USB Type-C port at the bottom, Oppo logo at the back and LED indicator at the front. The charging case is designed in such a way that it fits easily in the pocket along with the wallet or smartphone.

The touch controls on the Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro worked well for me. They can be customised via the HeyMelody app. Touch gestures can be used to control playback, turn on voice assistant, activate ANC, activate game mode, switch between recently paired devices and adjust volume. This allowed me to control my music experience without using my smartphone.

The HeyMelody app tells you the battery level of the charging case and both earpieces. Through this, ANC can be enabled or disabled, game mode can be activated which is claimed to give a low-latency of 94ms. Apart from this, you can switch between three equalizer presets (Enco Live), you can also update the firmware of the earphones. The app is well designed. It is very easy to use and works smoothly with the Enco Air 2 Pro.

Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro has 12.4mm dynamic drivers. It supports Bluetooth 5.2 along with SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs. The earphones have a frequency response range of 20-20,000Hz, and they also support AI-based environmental noise cancellation along with active noise cancellation, which gives good audio quality during calls.

These also have in-ear detection. That means music starts playing when you wear them and pauses when you remove them. Pairing is quite fast in these. Apart from this, they can also control your phone’s camera shutter, but for that you must have an Oppo smartphone that runs on ColorOS 11.3 or later version.

The battery life did not impress me much. They lasted only 3 hours with ANC on at 60 percent volume. The charging case charged them from zero to full three times. That means each charge cycle gives a total of 12 hours of playback. This is less than the OnePlus Buds Z2.

Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro: Amazing performance for the price

The sound quality of the wearable is good. I listened to Netsky’s Get Away From Here and the earphones delivered a strong and attacking sound while maintaining the detail and pace of the track. The sonic signature was balanced, although the tight bass was loud at times. Overall, the track sounded quite enjoyable. The experience was good even at 50 percent volume. The tuning is quite sharp and well-thought out.

The best sound quality was found in these at 70 percent volume. Its fit and active noise cancellation worked well. Even slow tracks like Mk.gee’s You sounded engaging. For a true wireless headset in this price range, the sound quality of these earphones is quite impressive.

The music became louder and more punchy when the volume level went above 80 percent. This could be an issue when listening outdoors, but most of the time, you will be happy with the volume level and crisp sound.

Its active noise cancellation performance is quite good. It is capable of giving a very good sound experience indoors and outdoors. It was able to block the sound of ceiling fan in the background, sound of running AC or even light traffic noise from outside. Through passive noise cancellation, it was able to block the general noise occurring in the house and office.

The connection is stable and the call quality is quite good. I did not face any problem during use. The connection was stable and lag free up to a distance of 4 meters between the earphones and the source device. Some difference was also felt in the game mode. It improved the latency but along with that the sound quality decreased a bit.

Verdict

Oppo’s audio products offer very good value for money. However, some products like Enco Air 2 were also average. With Enco Air 2 Pro, the company has returned to the same form again. These are very good true wireless earphones according to the price. They have many useful features like active noise cancellation and app support etc.

Above all, the sound quality in Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro is excellent and there is great support for ANC. These can be called the best headsets in the segment below Rs 5000. The only drawback is seen in its battery life, which if it was better, it could have proved to be the best all-rounder. If battery life matters more to you, then there is also the option of slightly expensive OnePlus Buds Z2. If ANC performance matters more to you, then in this price segment I would like to suggest Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro.
