Panasonic Launches Matter Enabled Air Conditioners Controlled via Miraie App Available in 1 1.5 2 Ton Variants All Details

Panasonic has launched its new lineup of air conditioners (ACs) for 2024, which includes a range of Matter-enabled room ACs. Matter is a new universal standard of connectivity for smart home appliances that allows interoperability through third-party mobile apps. With this, Panasonic has become the first brand in India to launch an air conditioner following this protocol. The Japanese brand has launched 60 models, including Mitron-enabled ACs in 1.0-ton, 1.5-ton and 2.0-ton variants.

Announcing its lineup of ACs, Fumiyasu Fujimori, Managing Director, Panasonic Life Solutions India, said, “The new line-up of ACs equipped with India’s first Matter-enabled RAC will not only provide inter-operability but also ease of use, Reliable and safe. By connecting seamlessly with other Matter-certified devices and platforms, they will facilitate better and more efficient use of energy, optimizing comfort while reducing environmental impact.

The Miter-enabled AC can be connected through the company’s Mirai app, which adopts the same connectivity standard. Users can also use any other Matter-enabled app to control the device. These new models are available through leading offline outlets, e-commerce platforms and the company’s website.

In recent years, a big focus in the user technology sector has been on interoperability and integrated solutions. Last year, Xiaomi launched its HyperOS, which replaced the MIUI system to bring a single interface to connect and integrate all its IoT devices. Apple eventually removed the Lightning port on the iPhone 15 series in favor of a USB Type-C port to comply with the new EU rules to bring an integrated port to all users’ electronic devices in terms of hardware.

Matter is a uniform protocol for software integration and connectivity of smart home and IoT devices. The universal standard was brought forward by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (formerly known as the Zigbee Alliance), a group of over 500 companies. The protocol first came into limelight in 2019 when Apple, Google, and Amazon joined hands with the Zigbee Alliance to create a single integrated connectivity system for smart homes.
