The initial handsets of Xiaomi’s new smartphone series are Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite. Both the handsets are in the price range of Rs 10,000 and Xiaomi, like before, has provided such hardware features in these phones that make them better than their rivals. The first sale of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite will be held on November 8 at 12 noon. Apart from this, these are also the first handsets to come with the company’s MIUI 9 operating system. Both the handsets will be available exclusively on Amazon India and Mi.com. Xiaomi Redmi Y1 price in India is Rs 8,999. This price is for 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM variant. 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant will be available for Rs 10,999. The price of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite in India is Rs 6,999.

Specifications and features of Redmi Y1 vs Redmi Y1 Lite

The most important feature of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is the 16 megapixel front camera. It is equipped with F/2.0 aperture, 76.4 degree wide angle lens and LED selfie light. The front camera comes with 36 smart profiles. Apart from this, beautification feature can also be used during video calls. It has face recognition technology and selfie countdown feature. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite has a 5-megapixel sensor on the front panel. There is no LED flash with this camera and it also does not have a wide angle lens. However, the aperture of the sensor is F/2.0, which means you can expect better photography in low light. Apart from this, facial recognition, real time beautification and selfie countdown feature have also been made a part of the lite model.

Redmi Y1 Lite has a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Y1 has Snapdragon 435 processor. This phone has two variants based on RAM and storage – 3 GB RAM + 32 GB inbuilt storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB inbuilt storage.

Talking about display, both the handsets running on MIUI 9 have 5.5 inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display. These come with 1000:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits brightness. However, the light model does not have a 2.5D curved glass design on the front panel, while the powerful variant has this feature. There is another difference. The weight of the light variant is 150 grams and thickness is 7.55 mm. The weight of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is 150 grams, but the thickness is 7.7 mm.

Both the handsets have 13-megapixel rear camera sensors whose aperture is F/2.2. These sensors come with phase detection autofocus and real time filters.
