Record sales in India’s PC market, HP retains top spot

International Data Corporation (IDC) Report According to, PC shipments in the country HP was in first place. Dell secured second place with 23.6 percent market share. The company shipped more than 1 million units in both the third and fourth quarters. Dell was at the forefront with 38 percent share in the enterprise segment. The company benefited from increased demand from IT and ITES companies.
According to the report, Lenovo ranked third in the fourth quarter and the entire previous calendar year. It registered a growth of 22.8 percent on a year-on-year basis. Lenovo was second after HP in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segment with a 24.7 percent share. However, the company’s overall shipments were affected by supply constraints.
Acer and Asus were at the fourth and fifth positions. Both these companies retained their positions with 8.2 and 5.9 percent share respectively. The report says that Acer was among the companies that benefited the most from the recovery in the desktop category. It secured the second position with 25.8 percent share in the commercial segment. Acer’s position in the commercial desktop market has remained strong for the past few years. Asus registered a growth of 36.1 percent last year. Its performance in the commercial segment was very good and the company’s growth in it was 227.2 percent on a year-on-year basis. There is a lot of competition among big companies to increase sales in India, which is one of the largest PC markets in the world. Because of this, these companies often offer discounts as well.
