Report, Indian government is working on Coronavirus tracker app: Report

News18 According to this, this app is being created by NITI Aayog and soon it will be made available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. According to the report, CoWin-20 app has been made available for some users.
Purpose of this app
1. Monitoring community spread of coronavirus through user location.
2. Alerting users when they have been around a person suffering from coronavirus.
3. This app will send notifications to users of people who were close to the user and have now been found COVID-19 positive.
The beta version of the CoWin-20 app has also been used by The Next Web. He found that the government will obtain users’ data regarding corona virus through Bluetooth. The report claims, “This app checks via Bluetooth whether you have gone within 6 feet of a person suffering from corona virus.”
The report further states that a map-like feature will be provided in this app, which will keep tracing the location history of the user. “Thanks to Map-19, for the last 14 days, I was able to see all the places I visited and all the people who were 5 feet away from me,” the report mentioned.
Next Web suspects that some features present in the beta version of the CoWin-20 app will not be included in its final version. It has been said in the report that this app will first ask for permission to access location data, due to which questions may arise on the privacy of the user.
It is noteworthy that in view of the threat of Corona virus, a lockdown of 21 days has been declared in India.
