Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge review

In India, especially in the smartphone market, now there are smartphones priced below Rs 10,000. Android There are grips of smartphones. Companies are presenting these smartphones with metal body and great features like flagship smartphones. Samsung too is no longer untouched by this.

Now new flagship smartphones Galaxy S7 And galaxy s7 edge Along with this, Samsung is facing a new challenge. Will the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge be as successful as their previous generations? Is the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge worth buying after spending a lot of money? Today we will review these two new flagship smartphones of Samsung.
Look and Design
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the curved Galaxy S7 Edge is slightly different from the previous Galaxy S6 series. Galaxy S6 Edge+ Users may be a bit disappointed as the S7 Edge has completely replaced the S6 Edge. The S7 Edge is definitely convenient to use. The biggest problem with the phone is its extremely smooth glass and metal edges due to which there is always a fear of dropping the phone when it is picked up.

Apart from this, Galaxy S7 fits perfectly in the hand. The curved rear and flat edges provide more control over the phone.
When it comes to choosing a flat or curved display, everyone may have their own preferences. After spending time with the Galaxy S7 Edge, there are a few issues that arise when you use the S7. We feel that like the S6 Edge, the curved glass reflects when held from any side, which makes it difficult to focus on content.

There is more difference in the display of both smartphones than design and size. We found the Galaxy S7 to be darker and crisper in our review unit, while the S7 Edge doesn’t have much contrast and a slightly yellow color tone. Both the smartphones have attractive screens and both give the feel of flagship device displays.

Both the Galaxy S7 smartphones are almost identical. Both phones have a physical home button equipped with a fingerprint sensor below the screen, capacitive back and recent buttons, a power button on the right, and volume buttons on the left. The physical home button on the S7 Edge is a bit thin but there is no problem in using it.
Samsung has not provided USB Type-C support in its flagship smartphones, whereas other companies are using this feature extensively in their smartphones. Both the Galaxy S7 have a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom along with a micro-USB port on the left and a small speaker grille on the right. The phone has a hybrid SIM tray at the top, from which the user will have to choose between two SIMs together or one SIM and a microSD card. But S7 is a step ahead from Galaxy S6 series, in Galaxy S6 users did not have the option to increase the storage whereas in S7 they can do so.

The second special thing about the SIM tray in the phone is the rubber flange given in it for safety. Both phones have got IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Along with the camera on the rear, both the phones have flash and heart rate sensor. At the bottom is the shiny silver Samsung logo. We received Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge review units in the Black Onyx color variant, which is actually a bit grey. The S7 smartphones are also available in Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium color variants.

The phones look sturdy, although they may get dents if dropped. Although the phone fits easily in the pocket, scratches were seen on both the buttons of the phone during one night of use.
Specifications
Apart from screen size and battery capacity, both these Galaxy S7 smartphones have many similar features. The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1 inch screen while the S7 Edge has a 5.5 inch screen. Both have Super AMOLED display and 1440×2560 pixel resolution. The Galaxy S7 has a 3000 mAh battery and the Galaxy S7 Edge has a 3600 mAh battery.
Samsung has launched its new smartphone in India with Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 processor and in some other countries this phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The phone has 4 GB RAM and 32 or 64 GB fixed storage (64 GB variants of both phones are not currently available in India). With the help of microSD card, storage can be increased up to 200 GB and USB-OTG is also available in the phone.

Apart from this, the phone has features like Wi-Fi B/G/N/AC, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, NT+ and GPS. But due to elimination of infrared feature in the phone, you will not get the experience of handy remote control like S7 in S7. Samsung has given a completely new camera system in both the phones. There is a 12 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. Even though the camera has less megapixels, Samsung promises that the camera can capture more light, better autofocus speed and good quality photos even in dark light with larger pixels.
software
The phone’s homescreen is a bit cluttered, but you do have the option to get rid of Samsung’s promotional “Galaxy Essentials” widgets to download themes and apps. What’s more, you can switch to a single-layer UI. If you do not like the default icons and wallpaper of the phone, you can also download free and paid themes from the theme store.

We liked Samsung’s Always-On display feature. This feature takes us back to the days of Nokia’s S60 screensaver phones. Battery consumption is low due to AMOLED screen technology. With this feature, you can easily check the time, battery status and notifications even when the phone is in standby.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has some unique touch features like you can choose a specific color for certain contacts, you can easily see the watch while lying down. Its edge panel attracts the most attention.

Most Samsung Galaxy phones feature split-screen view. While it works with pre-installed apps, the S7 series also has enough screen space to let you use two apps simultaneously. For this you will have to tap for a long time on the Recent button or go to the app switcher and make the control visible on the thumbnail.

Along with some of its own apps, Samsung has pre-installed many other apps like Microsoft, Facebook and Google in these phones. Microsoft Word is on the homescreen itself but Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote are given in a folder named Microsoft. Skype is also in the same folder but WhatsApp and Instagram are in a different folder called ‘Social’. Many pre-loaded apps cannot be uninstalled but can be turned off.
Like Apple Watch app, Samsung has also provided Gear Watch Manager with S Health and S Voice.

Shopping offers are available in another app My Galaxy and through this the user will also get the benefit of Samsung’s concierge service in India. With this, you will be able to book an appointment at a service center, schedule pickup and drop, and chat with tech support. When we tried to book an appointment, it was booked easily but there was no way to cancel it. Apart from this, we could not find any agent for live chat also. But it is possible that once the phone reaches common users in India, these features may run smoothly.
camera
The hardware and material quality of the flagship smartphones launched last year are easily available in mid-range smartphones today. But the best feature in expensive smartphones is their camera. As promised by Samsung, we have no doubt about the camera of Samsung Galaxy S7. The cameras of Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series have impressed everyone so far.

Samsung’s Camera app is simple but has a ton of features and controls. Motion Photos is a great feature, as is Apple’s Live Photos. Due to which a video of a few seconds is saved as soon as the shutter button is pressed. One of the most useful features in both these phones is that while using any app, you can directly open the camera app by double tapping on the home button or by jumping to the lockscreen.

The phone has a total of 10 modes including Pro mode. All the photos we took with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge looked great. Talking about quality and capability, there is no difference between the cameras of these two phones. Detailed pictures are available from the phone. Photos taken with distant background also look good.
Both phones provide good pictures even in low light. Photos taken under streetlight in the dark of night also appeared detailed.

The rear camera of both these phones of Galaxy S7 series can record 4K video while the front camera can record 1440p video, which is fine. The video quality is also good and we have no complaints about it.
performance
We liked the performance of both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones. However, S7 Edge is much more beautiful and attractive as compared to S7. Even though it is a bit big and wide, you can easily read the full page text on the screen.

Every app including games works without any problem on the phone. We were also able to watch heavy video files better on these phones. The speakers of both the phones work well. The phone never gets hot except while charging. According to Samsung, it is normal for the phone to get so hot. There is also an option to disable fast charging in the phone.
Our Samsung Galaxy S7 experienced problems on 4G networks indoors. However, no such problem was encountered in S7 Edge.

Talking about the battery life of the phone, in the video loop test of S7 Edge, the battery lasted for 17 hours and 49 minutes, whereas in Galaxy S7, the battery lasted for 16 hours and 26 minutes. Whereas on 4G and normal usage like games, videos, the phone lasts for almost a whole day without charging. Quick charge technology works well in the phone.
The benchmark figures of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were very impressive. We have never reached this level of data before.

our decision
These smartphones of Galaxy S7 series are much better and everything in them is better than Galaxy S6 series. If money is not a problem for you then both these smartphones are a great option. You will definitely be able to impress your friends with the photos taken at night or in dark light. Apart from this, you also have health monitoring and concierge service to show off.
When it comes to choosing between these two phones and screen size and curved screen do not matter to you, then you will get more thrill and satisfaction in S7.
