Scientists created a robot like Terminator 2, it will take shape again even after melting

Many years ago, in the film ‘Terminator 2’, a robot was shown which could change its shape. The audience was surprised to see this and there was speculation whether this could actually happen. Scientists have done it. Earlier this month, scientists had announced the creation of a robot that can change shape between solid and liquid. Additionally, it can withstand a variety of obstacles and environments without compromising on strength.

Researchers have applied this technology in various situations to demonstrate the capabilities of this robot. Researchers led by a team of Chinese scientists say that this robot, which has the ability to overcome many obstacles, can be effective in areas like electronic assembly. Science Alert quoted Chengfeng Pan, an engineer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. told “Giving robots the ability to change between solid and liquid states can expand their use.” The study describes how microscopic magnetic particles were mixed into liquid metal and how those particles heat and cool the metal by adjusting the magnetic functions.

Along with this study, researchers have also shown a video of the robot changing shape. It is seen that the robot is locked in a closet and after a few seconds, after increasing its temperature, it slides on the ground like the robot of Terminator 2 and comes out of the closet. After this it immediately cools down and regains its shape.

To make the robot, scientists have used gallium metal, which freezes at temperatures above 29 degrees. Scientists have combined a mixture of gallium with magnetic particles to create a machine that can transform between magnetoactive solids and liquids. Scientists are planning to use it in some real works. However, scientists will need to make some changes in the robot for this.
