Scientists saw first ever aftermath of 2 Planets Colliding

Planets Colliding: Our scientists, who were exploring the universe, were surprised when they came to know about the collision of two huge planets. One can only imagine how much destruction can be caused by the collision of planets. The collision of two planets can give birth to a new planet. In the present case, this collision took place far away from our solar system and for the first time scientists have seen the ‘afterglow’ of the collision of planets. This means that scientists saw the situation that arose after the collision.

Study It has been said that both the planets collided near a Sun-like star, creating a cloud of heat, light and dust. Scientists were able to see this collision because the dust that came out of it reached near the parent star of the planets and that star became visible dimly from the Earth.

As soon as scientists got information about the dim appearance of the star, they took the help of telescope. Dr. Matthew Kenworthy of Leiden University, who was part of the research, said that this observation was completely surprising for him.

He told that the information related to the star was shared with other astronomers and then it was observed closely with the help of telescopes. This study has been published in Nature Journal. The name of the star is ASASSN-21qj. Researchers studied the star for 2 years. Noticed the changes in its brightness. They concluded that the change in brightness of the star was due to the collision of two giant icy planets.

Apart from hydrogen and helium, elements like carbon, nitrogen and sulfur are present in such planets. According to the calculations done by the scientists, they think that it was the collision of two planets which changed the brightness of the star. It has been told in the study that about 3 years after the collision of the planets, their dust reached in front of their star, which blurred its light.
