South African Flower Creates Fake 3D Flies To Attract Pollinators details

On a recent plant at the University of Cambridge Study Has been done. Here an interesting information has come to light about the Daisy plant found in South Africa. Among the daisy plants, a plant called Gorteria diffusa has been studied which emits fake flies to attract insects that release pollen. These flies are three dimensional (3D) and have only the sensation of flying. Actually these flies are not there at all.
this study Current Biology in the journal published Has been done According to Professor Beverley Glover of the University of Cambridge, this plant has developed a gene for itself which is called Make a Fly gene. Combined with the pre-existing genes and this newly invented gene, it creates a situation in which male flies are attracted to the leaves of its flowers. Due to which it helps in pollination.
The reason behind this is also understandable. Study says that this plant grows in desert with difficult conditions. There is very little rainfall here. It must also bear flowers during a short season, pollinate them, and release seeds before it dies. Therefore, according to the circumstances, a gene has developed in it by which it can attract more and more male flies towards itself. It has also been said in the press release of the university that it has not been very long since this species of plant came into existence. Compared to other species, it is said to be 20 lakh years old.
