Sun erupts most powerful solar flare in seven years

According to space scientists, this is the 25th cycle of the Sun. When the Sun completes a cycle of 11 years, on the 11th year huge explosions occur on its surface due to which a huge amount of energy is released. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this was the third solar storm to form inside the Sun in 24 hours. These solar storms originate from a particular active part of the Sun. The reported solar storm originated from a part called AR 3590.

When these bursts of energy occur on the Sun, huge amounts of plasma rise up. This is called coronal mass ejection (CME). More powerful solar flares can affect communications and power infrastructure on Earth. When the solar plasma released with them collides with the magnetic field present in the form of a covering around the Earth, it affects services like communication.

According to NOAA, solar flare X6.3 has the potential to cause temporary damage to communications infrastructure, and may also affect signals for high frequency radio users. But the common man does not need to be afraid of this solar flare.

Scientists say coronal mass ejections (CMEs) cause bursts of energetic particles that create solar winds. This affects the Earth’s magnetic field. These penetrate inside its magnetic field due to which colorful shades are seen in the sky. But sometimes they pose a threat to electric networks and satellites. Due to this, 40 new satellites of SpaceX company were damaged, the reason for which was believed to be a similar solar storm in 2022.
