Tata Motors Manufactures 10 Lakh Cars in its Sanand Factory

This factory is spread over approximately 1,100 acres. It has a press line, welding shop, paint shop, assembly line and powertrain shop. Last month, Tata Motors had reduced the prices of its electric vehicles (EV) by Rs 1.20 lakh. The share of EV in total car sales in the country is about two percent. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, had said, “Due to the decline in battery cell prices, we have decided to pass this benefit directly to the customers.” The price of the company’s best-selling Nexon EV has dropped by about 1.4 percent to around Rs 14.5 lakh. The price of its small car Tiago has reduced by Rs 70,000. The price of its base variant will start from Rs 7.99 lakh. The price of the recently launched Punch EV is around Rs 12 lakh. In the last few months, Tata Motors has launched updated versions of Harrier, Nexon and Safari.
Recently the company launched the electric version of Punch. Tata Motors holds the first position in the electric car segment with about 85 percent share. The company had requested the Central Government not to give tax exemption on hybrid cars. Toyota, the leading company in the hybrid car segment, had demanded to reduce the tax on hybrid vehicles.
